Book your flights to Bali and also book an online return ticket or 1 way to Kupang on the Garuda Indonesian website. The cost is approx. 1.1 million to 1.5 million rupiah one way depending on what month you fly. The flight departs Bali daily at 11am arriving Kupang at 12.20pm. On arrival in Kupang you will be transferred to Hotel La Hacienda for your overnight stay and breakfast. The following morning you will be transferred to the harbour to board the fast ferry to Rote Island. Based on a twin share basis 1 night’s accommodation in Kupang, transfers from airport and to the harbour and VIP ferry ticket the cost is approx. 460,000 rupiah payable direct to hotel La Hacienda, we will make your reservation for you. A small fee is payable to the fast ferry staff for cartage of surfboards approx. 20,000 rupiah. Note at this stage no overnight stay is required in Kupang on returning from Rote if you book the Garuda Indonesia flight to Bali at 4pm. This flight is daily, we don’t recommend departing on a Sunday as this may incur a further overnight stay in Kupang.
On arrival to Rote you will be picked up and transferred to Villa Santai. The car hire is 400,000 rupiah for a max of 4 people the same fee applies on departure from Villa Santai to the harbour. A VIP ferry ticket is 220,000 rupiah per person. On arrival to Kupang you will be picked up and transferred to the airport by hotel La Hacienda’s vehicle. The cost for transfer is 125,000 rupiah max 4 people, payable directly to the driver.
What to Bring
As Rote Island is a remote location, we don’t receive travellers without travel insurance. Medical facilities are available but limited, and we don’t cover any insurance on your behalf while staying at Villa Santai and all transits to and from Villa Santai. Bring a normal short board and a bigger board for the big days, small medical kit, general course of antibiotics, mosquito repellent, a copy of your passport, short john or spring suit, between the months of June to September the trade winds can be a bit chilly. Beach towel, long pants and long sleeve shirt.
