Surf update

Not much to report today
WSW winds and short period swell.
Looking forward looks like a new tropical low is starting to form off the Northern Territory, this might send some more swell towards Nemberala.

i would like to thank all the guests who stayed here at Villa Santai Rote Island in 2016.

looking forward to you all coming back in 2017.

i would like to wish everyone all the best for the coming year and may Huey send you some great waves.

cheers Dino n Sharon

Surf update

IMG_2300The east coast had some great waves, while the tropical low sat off the top of WA.
Some new spots were discovered and surfed.
Rote island still has many secret surf spots and after living here for over 20 years it amazes me that I still keep discovering new ones.
Long live the search.

Surf update

Stormy conditions currently here in Nemberala.
Strong nw winds.
Offshore at Boa although a bit lumpy, surf height around 5to6 ft
With a pending cyclone or two forecast off the top end of Australia we might see some solid swell hitting the east coast of Rote.
Hopefully some of the rare gems light up with some classic a frame peaks.

Season has changed

With Xmas just around the corner, some excellent surfing conditions are still around here on Rote Island.
Many of the east coast breaks have been lighting up lately, with the west wind bringing offshore winds on the east coast.
With cyclone or two pending off the top of Australia,we should hopefully see solid swell pushing in over the Xmas period.

Season change

The wet season is starting to fill in now, with sporadic rain periods now the norm most days.
The landscape is changing dramatically in Nemberala.
Green grass coming back to life after the long dry season.
The local Rotenese people are all busy planting rice and various vegetables.
Winds are very calm and the ocean surface smooth and glassy, making for excellent fishing conditions.
